This partnership between LinkedIn and the DoD aims to help veterans and military spouses build their professional networks.

How Do I Sign Up for the LinkedIn Premium?

While this service is free it does require a bit of legwork to set up. Instead of just flipping a switch and giving you free services, this program wants to see you succeed. By requiring what boils down to a LinkedIn resume-style course you will refine your goals and ultimately become more successful. One of the coolest parts of the service is the free LinkedIn counselor one-on-one training.

Here is who can use these free services and how you can sign up:

Transitioning Active Duty Members & Military Veterans

LinkedIn offers U.S. service members and veterans a free 1-year Premium Career subscription, including one year of access to LinkedIn Learning. There are three programs, each designed to meet the needs of different servicemembers or veterans. They cover the following topics:

  • Transition from Military to Civilian Employment
  • Transition from Military to Student Life
  • LinkedIn for Veterans

Military Spouses:

Military spouses must start by visiting Military OneSource’s MySECO website to create an account and begin training. From there you will have one year of free Premium services. This service expires after one year, but will again be available with each Permanent Change of Station (PCS), job loss or career change.

Veterans should visit LinkedIn’s veteran subscription page and go through service to verify eligibility. You must not currently have a Premium subscription in order to qualify. This service expires after one year.
